MY CERAMIC COLLECTION circa 1800's - Kam Cheng Jar

This piece is a poor specimen of its group. It's chipped, weathered and overall it's it a low grade ceramic ware, but it's mine...no point to gloat about a pretty piece of pottery if it doesn't belong to you..

I'm proud of this jar because a similar jar was chosen as a front cover of a good book on malaysian shipwreck discovery by Sten Sjostrand. published by Musuem Negara Malaysia (2004 ).

The shipwreck is about 200 years old so it's easy to date this ceramic piece.

I download an extract from the book so that readers can get more info for the jar.

I think this jar is commonly used in the peninsular as I've come across similar pieces in Lonker Street ANTIQUE shops Malacca. But dont bother too ask the price from those Jonker Street shops's..+

I posted the above book PERANAKAN CHINESE PORCELAIN  by Kee Ming YUET just to highlight the best of the chinese Kam Cheng Jar for comparison purposes. These are worth thousands and are now in the hands of heavy weight collector's .
